The children's home is located in Ceská Kamenice, a small town in North Bohemia in the Czech Republic. The building that houses the children's home was originally a villa which was built in 1910 by factory owner and patron Mr. Karch. It has been used as a children's home since 1947 when the first children were moved there from a nearby orphanage. There are currently approximately 40 children living there who are divided into four family groups. There are two carers, who take turns looking after the children, responsible for each family group. The children are encouraged to take part in everyday activities which are common in normal families.
